Financial Bank Relief during the Katrina Disaster

In August of 2005 Hurricane Katrina, the costliest natural disaster in U.S. history, slammed America’s gulf coast, doing particularly severe damage in Mississippi and Louisiana. Among the many emergency situations created by the storm’s devastation was damage to the region’s financial institutions, rendering many bank and credit union facilities unusable. North American Buildings, Inc. responded by supplying fully equipped temporary financial buildings for a variety of institutions, including Eureka Homestead Savings, CUNA Strategic Services, and others, and multiple facilities for Central Progressive Bank and AMSouth Bank (now Regions Bank) . In all, North American Buildings supplied nearly twenty temporary buildings to the stricken region, some open for business in as little as a few days.

Another aftermath of the storm was Hancock Bank’s branch in Waveland, Mississippi, which was completely destroyed along with most of the town. Hancock needed a new branch there and quickly, and called on North American Buildings’ modular concept to build their new permanent facility in record time. North American Buildings delivered a custom designed 3,900 square foot modular building, including a full walk in vault and six drive up lanes, and 90 days after arrival on the site the bank was open for business.
